NEXEN TIRE Awarded Third Consecutive EcoVadis Gold Medal

Another gold medal for Nexen Tire
Nexen Tire has announced it has been ranked in the top 2 per cent of companies assessed worldwide in the 2026 ESG assessment by EcoVadis, a global sustainability rating agency. This marks the third consecutive year the company has received a Gold Medal.
Nexen’s position in the top 2 per cent represents an improvement from the top 3 per cent in 2025. The company delivered balanced results across all four themes of Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement, with the environment theme receiving the highest evaluation.
In the environment theme, Nexen was recognised for its environmental management capabilities. The disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes and the operation of environmental management systems across its global sites were positively evaluated. Nexen has disclosed a target, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 58.8 per cent by 2034, compared with 2023.
In the labour and human rights theme, the expanded scope of labour and human rights management systems across global sites was recognised. In the sustainable procurement theme, the company received a positive evaluation for various activities to build a sustainable supply chain, including the revision of its supplier code of conduct, implementation of supply chain ESG due diligence, and ESG awareness training for procurement staff.
The ethics theme showed the largest improvement among all assessed areas. Nexen continues to maintain policies and implementation systems covering anti-corruption, conflict of interest prevention, and information security, and received an improved evaluation this year for the expansion of information security activities across its global sites.
EcoVadis assessments are used by global automakers as a criterion for selecting suppliers. As requirements for ESG performance across the supply chain continue to grow, particularly in Europe, the assessment result is expected to help Nexen secure a competitive edge in original equipment (OE) tyre supply.
EcoVadis is a global ESG rating agency headquartered in France that assesses corporate sustainability management across four themes: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Since its establishment in 2007, it has assessed more than 150,000 companies in 185 countries, awarding Platinum (top 1 per cent), Gold (top 5 per cent), Silver (top 15 per cent), and Bronze (top 35 per cent) Medals.
John Bosco (Hyeon Suk) Kim, CEO of Nexen, says: “Maintaining the Gold rating for three consecutive years indicates that our sustainability management system is functioning effectively. We will continue to improve our ESG management practices in a systematic manner and contribute to sustainable mobility.”
