Davanti Tyre advises on UK winter tyre care

For the forthcoming Tyre Safety month in the UK. Leading mid-range tyre brand Davanti tyres has offered a series of simple steps for its customers and UK motorists in general to ensure are in the best condition making them safe and legally compliant.
First of all to check for damage, unusual wear formations and tear and of course tyre pressures. Davanti recommend these basic checks should be carried out on a monthly basis with the exception of tyre pressure checks which should be carried out on a more frequent basis as tyre can become quickly deflated resulting in excessive and uneven tread wear. It is also important to check regularly for cracks, cuts or gouges as well as nails, screws, glass or stones stuck in the tread or sidewall
At the same time its always best to check that tyres meet the UK legal tyre tread depth of 1,6 millimetres which can be carried out with the 20 pence test. If you cannot see the outer band on the coin when inserted in the tread groove then the tyre is safe and above the legal limit.
Finally, be mindful and try to avoid mounting the kerb or driving over a pothole which can easily knock wheels out of alignment resulting in uneven wear. Weakening the tyre and making them additional prone to damage as well as reducing a drivers control over a car and increase fuel consumption.
