Hankook Tire awarded CRS Award in Hungary

Hankook Tire has been presented with the Community Contribution Award at the first CRS Awards organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Hungary. 

Acknowledging the company’s localised CRS initiatives, including tire donations, employee volunteer programs, and community infrastructure improvements. Also, for continuing to practice the value of sharing worldwide, actively fulfilling corporate social responsibility

The event was hosted in partnership with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). With the awards aimed to encourage CSR activities by Korean companies operating in Hungary and sharing best practices from eight exemplary enterprises, including Hankook Tire. 

Ho Taek Lim, Managing Director of Hankook Tire Hungary Plant, presented the company’s initiatives and achievements to local stakeholders, highlighting Hankook Tire’s commitment to the value of sharing.

Since the establishment of its Hungary Factory in 2006, Hankook Tire has been actively engaged in continuous CSR initiatives across the country, contributing to the development of local communities. Particularly through the ‘Hankook Értékteremtő Program’ (Hankook Value Creation Program) launched in 2012 which has donated more than 28,000 tires to over 2,800 public and private non-profit organizations, including the Hungarian National Ambulance Service and the Hungarian Red Cross, supporting safer and other efficient operations.

In addition, Hankook Tire has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for local residents with the donation of advanced ventilators to St. Pantaleon Hospital, a key medical institution in Dunaújváros, in 2019, as well as provideding protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, installed a nurse call system for the surgical ward in 2024, and most recently, contributed 12 million Korean won this year to support improvements in the children’s ward environment.

In recognition of its contributions to advancing local healthcare infrastructure, Hankook Tire became the first corporate recipient of the ‘Outstanding Sponsor Award’ from St. Pantaleon Hospital at the ‘Semmelweis Day’ ceremony which was held to commemorate Hungary’s National Healthcare Workers’ Day last July.

Finally, Hankook Tire has been strengthening its ties with local communities through diverse localized CSR projects, including community infrastructure improvements through its Employee Volunteer Program, support for underprivileged households, and scholarship programs for young students.

Hankook Tire is implementing diverse CSR initiatives worldwide across its global production bases, including Hungary, the United States, China, and Indonesia including, tyre donations, talent development, and job creation for people with disabilities to support underprivileged households and local communities, improvements in traffic safety, medical assistance, and ecosystem restoration projects.

Looking ahead, Hankook Tire plans to continue advancing beneficiary-focused sharing initiatives based on close communication with local communities worldwide, actively fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
