The new Laufenn summer from Hankook
Laufenn has recently launched a new sporty tyre, the S Fit 2, which combines reliable performance with efficiency and durability, while also maintaining the high-quality standards set by Hankook.
The new tyre is the first model from the Laufenn brand to be used as original equipment by European car manufacturers. The Laufenn S Fit 2 will initially be available in a total of 94 sizes ranging from 15 to 20 inches, while the S Fit 2 SUV version will be available in sizes from 16 to 20 inches.
The Laufenn S Fit 2 has been developed specifically for the European market and extensively tested to meet the varied conditions across Europe. It delivers stable performance, offering the grip needed for brisk cornering on hot asphalt, reliable handling in heavy rain, and a comfortable, smooth ride in city traffic.
Jang Hyuk Moon, Vice President of the Marketing Department at Hankook Tire Europe, states: “With the Laufenn S Fit 2, we are strengthening the profile of our brand in the summer segment.
“The fact that the tyre is also being used as original equipment for the first time is an important milestone and shows that Laufenn is continuing to grow its presence in the European market.”
The tyre features a high silica content in its compound and a convex tread block design, allowing the S Fit 2 to achieve an EU wet grip classification of A, the highest category, in almost 90 percent of sizes. This results in braking distances that are up to 16 per cent shorter compared to the previous model. The tyre also features four generously sized linear grooves that enable optimal water evacuation.
Direct comparison tests show a 10 per cent improvement in wet handling, contributing to greater lateral and directional stability when cornering at high speeds.
The Laufenn S Fit 2 has a rolling resistance rating of B–C and delivers strong fuel efficiency thanks to a new generation of polymers. The summer tyre achieves a 15 per cent increase in mileage compared to its predecessor, resulting in lower tyre costs. The optimised tread design also minimises vibrations and noise levels, ensuring a quieter driving experience.
Another advantage is its high level of comfort due to low noise levels. Its low weight and high load capacity also make it suitable for a wide range of vehicle types.
In the future, Laufenn tyres designed for plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles will feature a special EV marking on the sidewall. This strategic feature of the second product generation is already included in the S Fit 2.
