Europe is one of the most important global markets for Kumho Tire
Kumho Tire has announced plans to build its first European manufacturing facility in the Opole region of Poland. The investment, worth USD 587 million, is scheduled to move through approval procedures ahead of an expected production launch in August 2028.
The new plant will start with a capacity of 6 million tires per year, with phased expansions planned depending on market demand. Kumho’s decision follows a detailed review of several European locations, during which Opole emerged as the most favourable option due to its infrastructure, logistics advantages, workforce availability, and strong investment conditions.
Europe is one of the most important global markets for Kumho Tire, accounting for around 25% of worldwide tire consumption and generating over a quarter of the company’s sales last year. Until now, Kumho has operated in the region without a local production base, which limited growth potential and cooperation opportunities with European vehicle manufacturers. The new facility is set to significantly strengthen the brand’s position, particularly in high-performance and larger-size tire segments.
With plants already operating in Korea, China, Vietnam, and the United States, the Polish factory will complete Kumho Tire’s global production network, enhancing supply stability and competitiveness across major world markets.
