Larger tyres will be the future choice for motorists

The latest analysis of the replacement passenger car and light truck (PCLT) tyre market in Western and Central Europe by leading sector analyst Astutus Research significantly demonstrates the importance of higher rim diameter (HRD) tyres to the market which are gaining in popularity.
It is confidentially anticipated that during the next five years up to 2030, tyres to fit rims of 18” or greater sizes will see growth of ‘almost 50 per cent’ whilst smaller segments will witness contraction.
Astutus Research also forecasts that the fastest growth will be in the largest tyre segment – 19” and above where the European region’s car market has focused increasingly on premium vehicle segments in the first half of the 2020s and particularly since the pandemic and the impact of the semiconductor shortage. At the same time the ongoing growth of electric vehicles (EVs) has also significantly instigated the increased pace of growth in HRD tyres.
These statistics are considered to be influenced by factors such as the increasing popularity of SUV’s and Crossover vehicles along with the increase of electric vehicles with larger rim sizes and a general trend towards larger tyres on new car models.
