Nexen Tire to manufacture tyres with recovered carbon black
South Korean based tyre manufacturer Nexen Tire has confirmed it has signed a long-term supply agreement with LD Carbon Co Ltd, a resource circulation and material company in recovered carbon black (rCB). This new partnership accelerates Nexen’s sustainable management initiatives and fulfils worldwide regulatory standards.
The collaboration with LD Carbon also boosts the adoption of sustainable materials as their recovered carbon black is generated by pyrolyzing end-of-life tyres in an oxygen-free environment which significantly reduces carbon emissions and actively promotes resource cycling.
Recovered carbon black is a key component of a tyre’s raw materials and plays a crucial role in tyre strength and durability, maintaining product performance and increasing environmental sustainability.
Nexen intend to use recovered carbon black in their production facilities on a global basis including China, Czech Republic and South Korea and are currently developing a circular resource structure to ensure a consistent supply of recycled materials to incorporate into its worldwide manufacturing chain. Which will strengthen sustainability throughout the value chain from raw material procurement to manufacturing.
Expanding the usage of recovered carbon black clearly demonstrates our commitment to ESG management and we fully intend accelerate this transition in eco-friendly materials to establish a tyre manufacturing system that has a low environmental effect from production to disposal.
