Prometeon is working towards Net-Zero in 15 years-time
International tyre producer for the commercial, agricultural and OTR market sectors – Prometeon Tyre Group has released its Sustainability Report for 2024 which strengthens the company’s ESG strategy and further consolidates their commitment to sustainability.
Last year Prometeon announced a 35.8 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to 2016 which exceeds their original 2030 target. Whilst electricity consumption also decreased by 13.6 per cent compared to nine years ago.
During 2025 Prometeon intends to lower its energy consumption by 23 per cent and reach 31 per cent in five years-time, therefore setting a clear and ambitious long-term objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2040 based on a path aligned with the 1.5 C limit set by the Paris Agreement.
They will also continue their commitment to renewable energy which currently accounts for 47.8 per cent of the group’s total electricity consumption. With regards to waste management Prometeon’s 2024 results illustrate a recovery rate of 98.2 per cent which is almost 2 per cent above the original target for 2030.
Nicolas Marchi, Chief of Internal Audit, Compliance, Sustainability and Institutional Relations Officer at Prometeon says, “In the tyre industry, particularly within the commercial, agricultural, and OTR segments, sustainability has become a strategic priority.
“Integrating ESG criteria into our operating model, encompassing supplier selection, employee well-being and financial structuring enables us to generate value in the environmental, social and economic contexts.
“This commitment not only strengthens our leadership but also propels us decisively towards our Net-Zero 2040 goal, while driving innovation in materials, processes and product performance. Sustainability has also become a key factor in attracting talented young individuals, who are increasingly attuned to these issues.”
