NEXEN rolls out its N’FERA Sport 2 European Summer Tyre

Nexen Tire has introduced the N’FERA Sport 2, its latest ultra-high-performance summer tyre and the successor to the highly successful N’FERA Sport.

Its predecessor achieved strong results in independent tyre tests by leading automotive publications in the DACH region, including ADAC and AUTO BILD, and was also used in original equipment applications. The new N’FERA Sport 2 features an updated tread pattern and enhanced construction to deliver even more precise handling, improved braking performance and reliable performance across wet and dry road conditions.

The N’FERA Sport 2 also features a 15% increase in structural rigidity compared with its predecessor, which helps to reduce tyre deformation and supports stable handling, particularly during dynamic driving. Nexen has additionally introduced Chamfer Technology, which uses specially shaped block edges to increase the tyre’s contact area during braking and cornering. This helps to provide a more stable and controlled driving experience.

The outside tread blocks are 5% wider, increasing grip and improving cornering stability by helping transfer the vehicle’s power efficiently to the road. The tyre also features a 7 per cent wider rim protector, providing additional protection for the rim flange against contact with kerbs.

The N’FERA Sport 2 uses a pattern designed to distribute pressure more evenly in the tyre’s footprint, effectively increasing the contact area with the road. This supports balanced handling, traction and braking performance while helping to control heat generation. Improved sidewall rigidity minimises deformation and provides more precise steering response, particularly when cornering at higher speeds. As a result, the new N’FERA Sport 2 achieves a 10% improvement in cornering stiffness compared to the previous N’FERA Sport.

The tyre is designed to provide confident handling across a wide range of road conditions. Its optimised contact patch and tyre contour support efficient water evacuation, reducing the risk of aquaplaning and helping maintain grip on wet roads. Multi-Width Grooves improve water drainage, while chamfered block edges increase the available drainage area. Together, these features help to reduce the risk of aquaplaning and support precise vehicle control in wet conditions.

The N’FERA Sport 2 has been tested at the IDIADA Proving Ground in Spain, with test results showing improved braking and handling performance compared with the previous N’FERA Sport. The results included an 11 per cent shorter wet braking distance, a 2 per cent shorter dry braking distance, 7 per cent improved wet and dry handling and 10 per cent improved cornering stiffness.
